Manbrain Foundation strives to help men who have been ensnared in substances, bad relationships, or unfulfilling careers to recover the best parts of themselves through psychotherapy, cinematherapy, and car restoration. Manbrain Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to providing aid and support to those in need.
We provide direct therapy using the Manbrain Protocol, a mindfulness-based cognitive therapy program. We offer therapy access scholarships, referrals to trauma-informed counselors, mindfulness-based coaching, and hands-on therapeutic programs like car restoration.
Yes. These populations are underserved and particularly welcome in our programs. If you're in the Program, many of us are as well - our goal is to help you make the 10th step promises a reality for you. We have veterans - Michael Wurth worked as a mental health technician in the Air Force before every state had licenses for the field that is now Licensed Professional Counseling. He's also dead-headed on MAT teams many times over the years.
The Manbrain Protocol is our own thing. Over years of practice it has been honed in what actually helps men improve, rather than how to mask it with behaviors that are not authentic. Michael Wurth, LPC-S, has trained in CBT with both Aaron and Judith Beck at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, has had extensive mindfulness training in various flavors of Buddhism, having first taken refuge in 1983. He also holds a Master's Degree in Translation Theory and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University, and views many disorders as having a linguistic nature.

Yes, our plans include Sponsorships for an individual client of your choice - we don't always leap to this method as some who would pay for a man's therapy are doing so for specific results, or believe that because they sponsor him, they have a right to updates that are not available to them. Our men won't talk if they think you'll find a way to discover what's going on with them. Talk to us.
Unfortunately, no. The request has to come from the man himself. You can introduce us, but if he isn't ready, we won't pretend he is. It's up to him.
Yes, all donations made to Manbrain Foundation are tax-deductible.
Oh yes, we do. It's our lifeblood. Clean-titled vehicles are welcome, as are specialty tools. We are working on a sheet for specific needs that can help identify ways to help.
I strongly prefer in-person sessions, but I can work with clients who can't make it to the garage. I have had clients from other states, but in every case, I have at some point flown to meet them for a session to allow me to evaluate everything about them that virtual counseling makes it easy to overlook. Let's play it by ear after the first session.
We begin our process with evaluation, and sometimes it takes a few weeks to know who you are, what you want, and even what you might need if its different. Unlike insurance-driven providers, we don't slap a diagnosis on you after talking for 40 minutes - you're better served by clinicians who know more about you before settling on a treatment plan. If your needs don't include the full Manbrain Protocol, we can still provide more conventional therapy along the lines of CBT, DBT, and MBSR. We also know a network of therapists who might be better choices for your particular needs, and we can discuss that too. There are no secret ballots, and our non-profit structure keeps us from needing to recruit for the Manbrain Protocol based on ability to pay.
As part of our initial session, we discuss rates, ability to pay, and what can work best for you. The Manbrain Protocol is a distinct program designed for invited clients who are best suited to join our therapeutic community. It's cheaper than retail therapy in the long run, but we initiated the donation process to enable men who otherwise could not participate.
